Lustron Homes

The man's name who founded Lustron Homes is Carl Strandlund. Strandlund and his company built the homes out of steel. The homes were built because when the veterans came back from World War II they didn't have affordable homes. So Carl Strandlund bought some steel and got some men to help build these houses. Morris H. Beckman and Roy B. Blass were the two men who designed the Lustron Homes.

The homes are small and shaped like a rectangle. They have large windows. The houses have a dishwasher that can be turned into a clothes washer. The pictures were hung up by magnets.

Standlund produced 2,498 houses. A little bit after Strandlund started his business he went bankrupt. He lost everything but his house.

In Terre Haute you can find a Lustron home in a neighborhood called Farrington's Grove!
